Creating your new smile

The process of creating your new smile begins with choosing the smile look that you want. You will work together with Dr. Liska to find a look that works for your facial structure. Many of the smile designs are unique combinations of different shape and shade, meaning the choice of how your smile looks is up to you!

Here are just a few examples of how slightly different shapes can create a different overall effect:

Video Tour of your mouth

Dr. Liska uses high-tech intraoral cameras to give you an inside look at your mouth. These cameras take high resolution video and are viewable onscreen for you to see. During the “Video Tour” of your mouth, Dr. Liska will show you the state of your mouth and teeth.

Digital photos

In order to plan the most aesthetically pleasing smile, Dr. Liska will often take digital photos of your teeth. This is also useful to show you your before and after photos when treatment is complete.

Composite mock up

In large cases, Dr. Liska may do a mock up using dental bonding. This process uses composite resin – a tooth colored material – that is applied to the teeth to correct any minor aesthetic flaws. This is a temporary measure, but is very helpful for patients who want to see what their teeth will look like after treatment is completed.

Wax-ups

Cosmetic Dentist

A wax-up model is used to create your new smile.

Dr. Liska will often use wax-ups to work out more complex cases. These models are excellent diagnostic tools and are often used to show the patient a preview of the results for final approval before treatment begins.

Temporaries

Depending on the amount of work and treatment that is planned for a specific cosmetic case, temporary veneers or crowns may be made to test out the smile. This is a great way to make sure you are totally happy with your new smile and that everything fits correctly and feels fully comfortable before you get the final restoration.

Dr. Liska’s cosmetic toolbox

Dr. Liska has a variety of tools and procedures to create your smile makeover.

  • Cosmetic DentistProfessional teeth whitening – Our office uses Zoom! take-home bleaching  trays and KOR. We use a variety of whitening options as what works for one person may not work as well for another. We make sure you get the result you were hoping for, so if one brand doesn’t get the desired result, Dr. Liska will switch your whitening treatment to another brand.
  • Porcelain veneers – Our veneers are created in a special trusted lab using Emax and Zirconia materials. These are applied directly to the teeth for a permanent smile improvement.
  • Dental bonding – Dr. Liska uses a composite material as an affordable solution for minor repairs. He also uses dental bonding as part of a temporary mock-up to show the patient a preview of what their final cosmetic work will look like
  • All-porcelain, durable Crowns – Our crowns are all-porcelain and created in a lab using high-quality materials.
  • Orthodontics – Dr. Liska can effectively straighten your teeth as an initial step in your smile makeover.
  • Dental Implants – Dr. Liska recommends dental implants as the strongest and most natural-looking replacement for missing teeth.
  • Tooth-colored fillings – Dr. Liska uses no-metal, tooth-colored fillings for cavities and replacing old metal fillings.

Conditions Dr. Liska can fix with Cosmetic Dentistry

Read below to learn which procedures Dr. Liska uses to fix common cosmetic defects in teeth:

  • Cosmetic DentistChipped teeth: Dr. Liska can use either porcelain veneers or dental bonding to repair a decayed, chipped, fractured or discolored tooth. Bonding uses a tooth-colored composite resin that is applied to the surface of the tooth to cover flaws.
  • Broken, worn-down teeth: Dr. Liska uses high-quality porcelain crowns to rebuild broken-down teeth.
  • Uneven gum line: Re-contouring the gum line can give your teeth a more balanced look and shape.
  • Gummy smiles: Sometimes the gums build up tissue and cause teeth to look smaller. Dr. Liska can remove excess gum tissue to make your teeth look full-sized again.
  • Small, misshapen teeth: An alternative to resizing or reshaping misshapen or small teeth is to use porcelain veneers.
  • Stained or discolored teeth: Your teeth can be whitened with our powerful in-office teeth whitening systems such as Zoom! and KöR. For greater convenience, and to maintain a bright smile, custom take-home trays with professional-grade whitening solutions are available as well.
  • Cavities and metal fillings: Dr. Liska can use natural-looking tooth-colored fillings on cavities or to replace your unsightly metal fillings.
  • Gaps between your teeth: A fast and effective way to close minor gaps is with porcelain veneers or dental bonding.
  • Crooked teeth: Porcelain veneers can be used to correct minor crookedness. However, for more severe cases, Dr. Liska can provide various orthodontic options to solve alignment issues.
