Invisalign® Teeth Straightening, San Antonio
Invisalign – the clear alternative to braces
Dr. Liska offers Invisalign teeth straightening for adults and teens. Invisalign has successfully helped thousands of people straighten their teeth with a more comfortable solution than traditional braces. With more than 15 years of clinical application, Invisalign has been proven to effectively straighten your teeth comfortably and invisibly. Invisalign’s revolutionary system uses high-quality clear plastic aligners that gradually move your teeth into position.
Planning your Invisalign treatment
When you visit Dr. Liska for an Invisalign consultation, he will begin by evaluating your teeth and bite (how the teeth come together). He will determine the best solution for you, depending on the amount of straightening needed. Each orhtodontic case is different, and some more severe conditions may require the use of traditional arch wire and bracket braces systems.
If Invisalign is right for you, Dr. Liska will create a custom treatment plan based on your specific needs.
How Invisalign Works
The average treatment time for Invisalign is approximately one year for adults, and about the same amount of time as traditional braces for teens (1-2 years). Because Invisalign uses clear aligners, you can see the progress that your teeth make throughout your teeth straightening treatment.
Custom aligners created from your treatment plan
Dr. Liska will create a treatment plan and instructions that Align Technology uses to create a series of plastic aligners customized just for you. These clear aligners are made from a smooth, BPA-free plastic, and fit comfortably on your teeth.
Dr. Liska recommends that you wear your aligners 20-22 hours every day. You are free to remove them when eating, and cleaning your teeth. Brushing your aligners is recommended for the most hygienic results.
Clear aligners gradually straighten your teeth
Approximately every two weeks you will receive your new set of custom aligners. Each new set gradually shifts your teeth towards the desired position. You will visit Dr. Liska every six weeks so he can monitor your progress. Once your treatment is complete, you will have a straight, beautiful smile.

Problems Invisalign can correct
Typically, when there is not enough room along the jawbone for all of your teeth to fit comfortably, they crowd together and become misaligned.
This condition can be painful for some, and even lead to jaw and joint problems. Excess wear on the teeth and irritation of the gums can result from continuous collision of the teeth as they come together.
Excess stress on the lower teeth can occur when the bottom teeth project beyond the top. This also leads to jaw and joint problems.
Gaps in Teeth
Gaps in teeth can cause other teeth to shift out of place, and this spacing between teeth can actually lead to an increased risk of developing gum disease.
An open bite is classified when the front teeth are left apart when the mouth is in a closed position. This can result in poor or pain when chewing and problems TMJ (temporomandibular joint).
Crossbites are identified by a malocclusion of the upper and lower teeth. The top teeth will often cross over the bottom, causing teeth to wear down rapidly, and paving the way for gum disease and bone loss.
